In like a lamb…(Don’t even think about the rest of the statement!)
Weekly Update March 2-6, 2020
Important information: We had Brain Show Mania this morning! It’s always so much fun! We will have The Personal Safety Program this week as well.

Also, this week begins Career Week. Your child may dress-up as their role model on Friday. If you would like to come in and speak to the children about your career, you may do so from now until the end of the year. Get in touch with me to set up a time that works best for you.

Please look for the PTO Basket Raffle information sheet in today’s folder as well. The form is unique to our class. Contact me with any questions regarding our class basket.

We are not beginning a new story this week. There will not be a new spelling list tonight. Continue to practice reading the H.F.W. lists each night. Check for leveled readers, these books are intended to give your child more practice on their current success level. Five minutes of reading usually will be all that they need. Contact me if you have any questions.

Looking for sound chunks while reading is great practice for the children. Preview the page before reading and have your child find words that have the chunks that you selected. Read the words, then read the story.

We are working on Fact Families sums to 9, in Spring Math. We will begin Unit 6, Telling Time and Measurement this week. The children will learn to tell time to the hour and half hour, plus estimate measurements and how to use a ruler.

Monday (Day 3) Music class; read over the H.F.W note books

Tuesday (Day 4) Art class; read the H.F.W. lists, have your child read to you and have them retell 3 important facts about the story (what happened at the beginning, middle and end)

Wednesday (Day 5) Library class; read the H.F.W. lists, have your child read to you, name the characters, setting, was the story fiction, or non-fiction

Thursday (Day 6) Phys. Ed. class; read to your child so they hear fluency and expression.

Friday (Day 7) Music class. Dress-up as your role model! Practice reading over the weekend and practice sub. from 9 and their related facts.
*Please check the Friday Folder for important papers to keep; then sign and date the front sheet of the folder. Send the folder back to class the next school day.
I hope you have a fabulous week!
