Weekly Update March 9-13, 2020

Important information: Thank you for the basket donations that have been coming in already! Please send in the information sheet as to whether you will be participating or not, in a donation to the class by Friday of this week. There is NO pressure to participate. I just need to know when all donations have been received and when I should shop. If you can’t find the paper, just send in a note if you plan to make a donation by purchasing a science project, sending in a monetary donation or can’t participate. Thank you for those that I have already received. I’ll send home another update sheet at the end of the week for any new gifts that have come in to class. I will also send home a list when our basket is finished so you will know all the great items that we will be contributing!

We are beginning a new story this week. There will be a new spelling list tonight. Please check for corrections to be written each night this week until the test on Friday. Continue to practice reading the H.F.W. lists each night. Check for leveled readers, these books are intended to give your child more practice on their current success level. Five minutes of reading usually will be all that they need. Contact me if you have any questions.

Looking for sound chunks while reading is great practice for the children. Preview the page before reading and have your child find words that have the chunks that you selected. Read the words, then read the story. Look for these new sound chunks: ue, kn, wr.

We are working on subtraction from 15, in Spring Math. We continue to work on Unit 6, Telling Time and Measurement this week. The children will learn to tell time to the hour and half hour, plus estimate measurements and how to use a ruler.

Monday (Day 8) Art class; read over the H.F.W note book, write any spelling corrections

Tuesday (Day 1) Computer class; read the H.F.W. lists, write spelling corrections, have your child read to you

Wednesday (Day 2) Phys. Ed. class; read the H.F.W. lists, write spelling corrections, have your child read to you

Thursday (Day 3) Music class; read to your child so they hear fluency and expression.

Friday (Day 4) Art class; Practice reading over the weekend and practice sub. from 15 and their related facts.
*Please check the Friday Folder for important papers to keep; then sign and date the front sheet of the folder. Send the folder back to class the next school day.

I hope you have a stress-free week!
