Weekly Update Dec.16-20,2019
Important information: I will not be in school on Friday due to my daughter having her wisdom teeth removed, so I will have a little treat for the children on Thursday. Friday will be our December PBIS reward day. The children will be allowed to bring in electronics/games to be played with their classmates. Please be sure your child knows the rules of any games they bring in, to help them have more time to enjoy.

We are not beginning a new text book story this week, so there will not be a new spelling list tonight. Continue to practice reading the H.F.W. lists each night. (Blue notebook) Also, there may be some leveled reading books coming home for extra practice with your child. These books are intended to give your child more practice on their current success level. Five minutes of reading usually will be all that they need. Contact me if you have any questions.

We have been learning these sound chunks; so, to make reading more interesting, pick out 3 to find in the story that they read to you each night. ee, ea, sh, ch, th, ck, ng, oo, ow, oa, ai, ay, or, er, y, a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, u-e, *newly added oi, oy.

We are continuing to work on addition and subtraction in math.

Monday (Day 2) Phys. Ed. class; Check for spelling corrections and write any errors 3 times each, every night until the test on Friday. Read the word lists in the blue notebook.

Tuesday (Day 3) Music class; read the H.F.W., have your child read to you and have them retell 3 important facts about the story (what happened at the beginning, middle and end)

Wednesday (Day 4) Art class; read the H.F.W., have your child read to you, name the characters, setting (where the story mostly takes place), was the story real, made-up but could happen, or make believe

Thursday (Day 5) Library class; read to your child so they hear fluency and expression

Friday (Day) Non-rotation day; Practice reading over the weekend and practice sub. from 9
*Please check the Friday Folder for important papers to keep; then sign and date the front sheet of the folder. Send the folder back to class the next school day.

I hope Santa brings you everything on your list!
