Weekly Update Oct.7-11,2019

Important information: There will be an early dismissal on Friday, October 11th. It will be a rotation day (day 2). The children will be leaving school at 12:00. There will be no school on Monday, October 14th. When your child returns on Tuesday, October 12th, it will be rotation day 3.

Tonight, is parent shopping night for The Book Fair, from 4-7pm. Your child is scheduled to have an opportunity to shop at the Book Fair on Thursday, October 10th, during their encore class.

Picture retakes are rescheduled for October 9th, for NSE.

We are beginning a new story this week, “Pig in a Wig”, so there will be a new spelling list tonight and a new H.F.W. list. The text book will not come home again until next Tuesday. This week we build background information and work on phonics skills.

We are beginning Unit 2 in math which is working on addition sums to 10. This works nicely with our Spring Math Program (strictly math fact fluency). On Thursday last week the class met the goal in adding to sums of six so, this week we will begin timed tests with sums to 12. Use the worksheets that come home as practice. We are practicing daily with flashcards, and practicing at home is a great way to improve your child’s math fluency.

Monday (Day 6) Phys. Ed. Class; Look for corrections in the spelling notebook, any words written in color by me need to be written 3 times for homework, sign the paper and return it to school. Read the words in the blue notebook (High Frequency Words).

Tuesday (Day7) Music class; write spelling corrections, read the H.F.W.

Wednesday (Day 8) Art class; write spelling corrections, read the H.F.W.

Thursday (Day 1) Computer class; write spelling corrections, read the H.F.W.

Friday (Day 2) Library class; *Early dismissal, Spelling test for those students who had corrections in heir notebook.

*Please check the Friday Folder for important papers to keep; then sign and date the front sheet of the folder. Send the folder back to class the next school day.

Have a wonderful week!
